WE Network Dinner Meeting Recap ~ 1/25/2012
January 27th, 2012 by denise
The Warm & Welcoming Hunt Club on a Winter Night
I’ve always believed in quality over quantity, especially when it comes to attendance at WE Network events. There were only 11 of us at the dinner table when Chef Stuart Morton presented an amazing 3-course Southern France inspired meal on January 25, but the “right” 11 were there and WE enjoyed every minute and every bite.
Who made it?
First, Our Members ~
Denise Schultz ~ Founding Organizer of the network and a freelance writer, marketer, and most recently described as an “executive for hire.”
Amy Straubel ~ CPA and owner of AIM Tax & Accounting Services, who manages her time and priorities professionally enough to be able to sneak away during tax time for a well deserved night away from it all.
Becky Merwin ~ REALTOR®, community leader, and woman extraordinaire, who made time to join us upon returning from a visit to help her mother in Phoenix, AZ.
Kristina Statude ~ Fashion Advisor with lia sophia jewelry, Executive Director of the Geneva Lake West Chamber of Commerce, and ray of sunshine, who missed her self defense class to join us (so won’t be able to do it again next month ;-()
Mary Anne Olszewski ~ Gentle Healer, aromatherapy consultant and owner of Awakenings3 Bodywork, who works with her clients to empower us to help ourselves.
Marlynne (MJ) Hodges ~ Massage Therapist, Poet, Writer and More, who shares her various gifts with us and hopes to read some of her ooetry at future WE Network events.
Sandy Lenz ~ Owner of Sandy’s Upscale Consignment, who says “Shop Local and Shop Often” and could well be deemed “the Official Outfitter of most of the WE Network.”
And Our Valued Guests ~
Marianne Mertes ~ co-owner of Floor Restore, specializing in deep cleaning of hard surfaces, both inside and out, including carpet cleaning – and a comfort consultant with Private Quarters, focused on “helping people sleep better,” moves up on the list next month, as our NEWEST MEMBER! Welcome, Marianne.
Amy Faul ~ owner of Little Professor’s Learning Center in Walworth, a state licensed child care facility, particularly focused on helping her small guests feel as comfortable as they do at home.
Reverend Ginny Stuve ~ a wonderfully warm woman who performs wedding and other ceremonies in addition to serving those in particular need of her new thought ministry. WE can’t wait to hear more about her ”Be Your Own (Damn) Life Coach” workshops, which she plans to take “on the road.”
Mary King ~ owner of At The Lake House, a luxury lakeside home available for rent by families and friends. Up to 12 people enjoy 2 villas featuring 4 guest suites, 2 private kitchens and bathrooms and plenty of lake views, just 75 feet from the private pier. Had it not been dark, WE could have viewed it across Lake Como from our venue.
Why Were WE There?
An impromptu Post-It note survey said: “Positive Interaction with Professionals” ~ “Denise’s Energy, Motivation, Networking, Great Venue, Close to Home” ~ “Escape the Normal Routine (Work/Family)” ~ “Denise’s Positive Energy” ~ “Camaraderie, Family-like Atmosphere, Ability to be Honest” ~ “Positive Girl Power, Denise’s Continued E-mail Invites” ~ “Meeting New Women Entrepreneurs!” ~ “Networking” ~ “Sharing. Being a part of something Bigger…” ~ “Eating at the Hunt Club and Camaraderie” ~ “Important Networking, Supporting Shopping Local”
Discussions included:
Does the WE Network logo need an update? Nope. WE aren’t going to fix what isn’t broken. The women present love the creative combination of strength and femininity. Great job to Marcy Murphy of DesignWerx whose design has lasted the test of time and many transitions around us.
Kristina Staude noticed member Sherry Kirchschlager up to something in a retail store on the Walworth square on Tuesday evening and Sandy Lenz was able to shed some light on some exciting news. Sherry is opening Sherry’s Dockside as a physical retail location carrying consignment items from men’s clothing to house wares. WE are all excited to see how Sandy and Sherry are able to collaborate to help support one another and local small businesses. Best wishes from all of us Sherry!
Joyce Wilson, Manager of the Hunt Club and Legends Tavern, Chef Stuart Morton, and our server Sara(h) all impressed our group with their courteous professionalism and outstanding service. Becky Merwin addressed an issue that she feels many local residents think of the Hunt Club as part of the Geneva National “members only” resort and WE should all spread the word that they are currently open to the public Wed.-Sat. Happy Hour specials begin at the bar at 4 (through 6) and dinner is served 5-9 p.m. WE were invited back for our Feb. 22 and Mar. 28 meetings and with the service we received, WE see no reason not to graciously accept! Seating in the sunroom is limited to 20 for a comfortable dinner meeting, so reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis and all reservations will obviously be billed as a commitment to pay, regardless of attendance.
So, that’s what you missed if you weren’t able to join us. That and some laughs, hugs, sharing, and delicious cuisine ;^)
Hope to see you at the Hunt Club on Wednesday, February 22.
October 26 Dinner Meeting Recap
October 27th, 2011 by denise
On October 26, 2011 the WE Network and Friends enjoyed another wonderful evening at The Public House of Williams Bay. Many of us began the evening by enjoying the amazing Pumpkin Harvest soup, topped with cinnamon and whipped cream. Others enjoyed a fresh garden salad with homemade dressing, followed by new entrée choices from the seasonal menu, and my favorite - the daily fresh Hawaiian fish option with steamed vegetables and wild rice. As always, the food and service were outstanding, and WE highly recommend The Public House for private dining or group functions. Fall/winter kitchen hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. – 8 or later, depending on demand. Sue Wendt reminds us that carry out is an excellent option, which allows us to support our local businesses in the “off season”, as well as enjoy delicious homemade soups, salads and entrees at a very reasonable price.
Our meeting opened with a surprise appearance by Kevin Raymond and Keith Hardy of Phoenix Rising Entertainment, Nashville. Having just arrived for Hooray for Holidays! 2011 at the Grand Geneva, they treated us to their breathtaking rendition of “Peace on Earth/The Little Drummer Boy”, which will be featured in this year’s show. Ten cast members, six band members, many, many songs, dances and brand new costumes are sure to make this year’s production one to be experienced and remembered. Sponsorship levels are available through Friday, November 10, which allow local business owners to both support the arts and promote their businesses. Packages begin at just $250 and include printed recognition in program and poster, live recognition at performances, and complimentary show tickets. Contact Denise Schultz for details. Special thanks to Tracey Hennessey, Tracey’s Tax Service, and Dr. Donna Brown, Excel Family Chiropractic, for stepping up as Silver Level Sponsors. WE hope to add the Bay Corner Boutiques to the list very soon, thanks to the efforts of Joey Coleson, details in the bay … and Chris Schulz, The White House and Bella’s Boutique.
Denise announced that Eileen Bennett is holding a Women’s Lakeside Restorative Retreat on November 19-20 at the Geneva Inn. The two-day event, including lodging, lunch both days, and a wine reception on Saturday evening, is $250 (without lodging - $120). See the Facebook event by the same name for details on this empowering event.
First time guests included: Pam Frazier, private violin, viola and beginning cello teacher, who also volunteers for and plays with the Lake Geneva Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra’s next performance is Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Calvary Church in Williams Bay. Tickets are only $10, to enjoy first class Brahms and Mozart. Learn more at: www.lakegenevaorchestra.org. Marianne Mertes, co owner of Floor Restore Corp. and Comfort Consultant with Private Quarters was invited by our Bling Queen – Kristina Staude. Floor Restore helps clean hard surfaces and applies urethane and epoxy finishes to floors. She also represents a direct sales company which is known for providing “7 layers of blissful sleeping.” Returning visitors included Kendra Jenski, Pampered Chef consultant and Alice Meyer, who “helps people create and retain wealth” with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Maria Loomer is on her way to becoming a Qualifying Director with Mary Kay Cosmetics, which means she will be driving a free, new car soon! Congratulations to Maria from all of “WE”. It sometimes becomes slightly awkward to evenly support so many different skin care companies represented within our group, but it’s this diversity that allows us all to learn, grow and develop in an open atmosphere.
Joey Coleson, Chris Schulz and other Williams Bay business owners are collaborating to create “Hometown Holidays” this season in the Bay. The Public House will be featuring chestnuts roasting outside by their Christmas tree, and the vacant lot on the corner of Geneva and Walworth Streets will be glowing with decorated trees, just to name a few of the highlights. Stay tuned and PLEASE support our local small businesses this season. Internet shopping may be convenient, but you won’t be welcomed with a smile, a holiday treat, or personalized gift wrapping, like you will at many of our local shops.
Our November and December meetings will be moved to the third week, due to holidays, so dates are: Wednesday, November 16 at The Public House of Williams Bay and Wednesday, December 21. Our Christmas Dinner/Party plans will be confirmed shortly. Please plan to bring spouses, significant others, staff, associates and friends to enjoy an evening of celebration and goodwill.

“Back to Business” with the WE Network 9/28/11
October 2nd, 2011 by denise
On September 28, 2011 WE enjoyed an absolutely delightful evening on the shores of Lake Como at Kirsch’s Restaurant. With Jim Kirchschlager’s pending retirement, WE were fortunate to enjoy one more beautiful sunset evening at one of our favorite establishments. When a scheduling conflict arose at The Public House of Williams Bay, owner and WE member Kathryn Loprino was gracious enough to call WE Founder Denise Schultz to discuss options, and the two agreed to move the meeting to Kirsch’s, which Kathryn and server Jessica Venegas attended and enjoyed. Martha Phelps, of Kirsch’s management team, was responsive and accommodating, as was the rest of the staff, and a delicious three course meal of Caesar salad, pasta with chicken, tomatoes and parmesan, and mini crème brulee with a chocolate dipped strawberry was appreciated by the 21 women and one lucky man who were able to join us.
Who was the man? Joe Rosner, a nationally-recognized safety and self defense expert. Joe shared that 90% of violent predators are male and that women should be aware of every unfamiliar man in our surroundings, asking ourselves “Who is he?” and “What is he doing here?” With some help from Alice Meyer (a guest invited by Kristina Staude), Joe demonstrated basic tips and techniques for us to protect ourselves. He demonstrated basic blocks, stressing the importance of keeping our stronger hand out front, and our other hand protecting our face and throat. Joe reminded women to believe in our intuition and to “pay attention to the picture, and ignore the 1,000 words” when it comes to a stranger’s words vs. his actions. He also shared a pressure point that he calls the “self defense equivalent of duct tape,” meaning it works in most cases. Joe’s number one recommendation for protection is pepper spray. Due to his experience in law enforcement, he sells VEXOR® quick release sprays which attach to keychains, are fast acting, consistent, and non-toxic. He also has several instructional books and DVDs available for adults and children. Please learn more about Joe online at: www.Best-Defense-USA.com.
Our newest member, Shelly Wilson, an independent consultant with Rodan + Fields (the doctors who invented Proactiv) was able to join us for the first time and did an outstanding job of representing herself and her rapidly growing skin care company. She is proud to represent a clinically proven product with a 60-day money back guarantee. Please learn more about her business opportunity at: https://shellywilson.myrandf.com/
Missy Putnam, professional organizer, is now offering Shelf Genie products to help clients get control of the clutter in their closets, cabinets and small spaces. Learn more about Missy and her services at: www.clearingspaces.net
Jacque Gratz, Fragrance Consultant with Gold Canyon, shared that she does 80% of her annual business between October 1 and December 10 of each year. (Wow!) This is obviously because Gold Canyon products make such wonderful gifts. And, beginning October 1, they donate 10% of the sales of their signature Pink Sugar Cookie Breast Cancer Tribute candles to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Order yours, and shop for other products or book a party at: www.mygc.com/gratz
Marilyn Cayo, of Mid American Bank encouraged all members and guests to be sure they’ve talked to their bankers and reviewed their mortgages before today’s low interest rates go up. Marilyn is also an independent consultant for Arbonne (Swiss-formulated botanical skin care and wellness products) and now Boresha BSkinny® fat burning coffee. (You can bet I’m checking into this one!)
Sherry KirchschlageSr, who had recently moved to Florida, has returned to Williams Bay! She is back and so is her Miche Bag inventory – so get in touch with Sherry to plan your purse party or to purchase your fall and winter shells from her inventory. Sherry is working at The Cornerstone Shoppe in downtown Lake Geneva and invites all WE members and friends to the October 15 “Be Inspired” free book signing event. This popular event has limited seating, so she encourages reservations (248-6988).
The Public House of Williams Bay will be reducing their extensive menu for the winter season, but will still have plenty of delicious favorites, and will be closing 1-2 days per week. A discussion regarding the long term closing of Geneva Street east of the restaurant resulted in a pledge of support from those present to attempt to support Sammezzz Pizza and Bell’s Store during this challenging time for those businesses.
Guests included Alice Meyer, Eileen Fricke, Cindy Stone, Rita Stephens, and Kristen Westlake. Thank you to our members and guests for promoting the network. WE welcome guests who want to learn more about WE and our members.

It was truly a wonderful “Back to Business” evening on the shores of Lake Como. WE wish Jim Kirchschlager (“Kirsch”) the best in his retirement, and thank you for his years of service to our community. WE look forward to the next chapter of the restaurant at the French Country Inn and our next meeting, at The Public House of Williams Bay, on Wednesday, October 26, 2011.

Event Recap - Summer Nights Networking Kick off - June 22, 2011
June 24th, 2011 by denise
22 of us on the 22nd – numbers like that don’t escape my attention. Maybe it’s because I don’t believe in coincidences. I often say the people who are meant to be at WE Network events are the ones who walk through the door. I commend Gary Lenz, loving husband of Sandy, owner of Sandy’s Upscale Consignment in Walworth, for being the sole man at dinner with 21 women, and smiling through it. As always Kirsch’s Restaurant did a superb job on the meal and provided wonderful ambiance. The weather for our Summer Nights Kick off was actually a little autumnal - damp and chilly, but we got outside for just a few minutes to take a photo with retiring restaurateur Jim Kirchschlager and nothing put a damper on our lovely experience. Jeff Trudell entertained in the lounge with his casual and friendly style, to round out the perfect evening. WE will have to go back individually or in small groups throughout the summer to catch the gorgeous sunsets and the final season of Kirsch’s as we’ve known it. I look forward to seeing what comes next for this intimate lakeside setting. Learn more about the menu, specials, and unbelievable Sunday Brunch (Just $10.95!) at www.kirschs.com
Member Announcements and things you may have missed ~
Special thanks to Neri Garcia of Tracey’s Tax Service (www.traceystaxservice.com ) for helping me behind the scenes throughout the evening. Neri is an administrative goddess, who instinctively realized I could use a little support as I adjust to wearing a new hat. Thanks Neri – I appreciate you.

Sandy Lenz, owner of Sandy’s Upscale Consignment –(www.sandysupscaleconsignment.com ) is celebrating her store’s 14 year anniversary this weekend! This is quite an accomplishment in today’s world. May 25, 2011 Dinner Meeting Recap
June 1st, 2011 by deniseWE enjoyed another delightful evening at The Public House in Williams Bay, where WE have been meeting for this calendar year thus far. WE now launch our Summer Nights networking events for the next three months where we invite men, more guests, and loosen up our structure to include more casual networking and live music. Dancing under the stars is encouraged …do this for multiple reasons, not the least of which is to allow our hosts to generate more revenue during the few lucrative months when tourists and visitors are dining on weeknights. No one appreciates our regular business more than Public House owners Kathryn & Brian Loprino, who I am sure would welcome us throughout the summer, but this is the right thing to do – and I am pleased to announce that a unanimous decision was made at this meeting to come back to The Public House for September – December meetings, and the foreseeable future! Although Kathryn was double booked and not able to join us, she left a lovely letter for Denise to read aloud, which was appreciated by all present. WE will hold her to her promise to join us at Kirsch’s on June 22 ;^)

Becky Merwin and Sherry Kirchschlager
Our scheduled guests from Walworth County Health & Human Services were unable to join us due to a last minute emergency. Perhaps we will hear from them in the fall when we return “back to business.” WE were able to take advantage of the extra time to discuss some changes in the air, and a plaque Denise was inspired to grab off her kitchen wall on the way out the door … “It takes COURAGE to grow up and become who you REALLY ARE…,” it said. Denise announced that she has informally accepted the position of Interim Director of the Lakes Area Realtors Association, effective June 1 – the largest challenge being that she begins this commitment as her seven year old finishes school for the summer, which they will not spend entirely together for the first time. “His excitement tells me it’s time for both of us to accept new challenges. I appreciate the support of Shelley Perry and Becky Merwin in this endeavor,” she said. Becky Merwin, long time LARA member and leader, endorsed Denise and her skills for this position and believes it will be positive for everyone involved.
Sherry Kirchschlager announced that she is moving to St. Petersburg, Florida June 10. Although WE will all miss her beauty, grace, and intelligence, WE wish her all the best as she joins “her two favorite ladies” – her mother and college-bound daughter. Sherry will still be carrying the Miche bags we love, and will be able to ship them to her WE friends and customers from Florida. Be sure to see her artistic talents on one of the “Anchors Away” sail boats for the S.M.I.L.E.S. fundraiser, which will be on display this summer. See: http://smilestherapeuticriding.org/swma/ for full details (takes a few minutes to load.) Sherry also formally announced that Kirsch’s will be closing in October (2011) as Jim Kirchschlager retires. French Country Inn owner Tony Navilio is seeking a restaurateur to carry on the fine dining tradition of Kirsch’s.

Denise Schultz would like to get an informal group together to enjoy “Country Roads” – a tribute to John Denver by Robert Stillman on Saturday, July 16 at Music by the Lake. The entire line-up is top quality entertainment, but Denise thought John Denver music out on the lakeside lawn would be an especially relaxing evening. Robin’s business has outgrown her home, so she welcomes advice as she seeks a non-retail location for her operations.
Guest Speaker:
Julie Ford, Certified Life Coach (www.julzoflife.com) – presented “Valuable Habits for Creating Joyful Abundance.” Julie reminded the group that, “Abundance is a perspective – as is a lack of it…” The focus of this presentation was not on physical or monetary assets, but abundance of joy. She provided three habits, with the tools/activities to remind us to maintain this perspective on our abundance:
1) BE IN THE MOMENT. Find a reserve of joy by focusing, if even for one minute, through deep breathing exercises or preferred relaxation techniques to block distractions. Suspend the multi-tasking occasionally and pay attention to where you are and who you are with.
2) SHOW GRATITUDE AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. At a convenient time and place, journal at least 5 things each day for which you are grateful (“I am grateful for …..”) and 5 things you acknowledge yourself for. (“I acknowledge myself for …..”) She promises it becomes easier as you practice it each day, and warns women not to skip the second step, as it is every bit as important as the first.
3) WATCH YOUR LANGUAGE. See how it affects you and others around you if you avoid “sticky” language. What does she mean by that? If you find yourself saying, “I am tired,” or “I was stupid,” switch those words to the conditional states that they really are by instead saying, “I feel tired,” or “I made a poor choice…” Rather than tell a child, “You are naughty!” – tell them “you made a poor choice” and watch the difference. Just a simple reminder to watch we say to ourselves as well as others, which can have great impact.

Meeting Recap - 3/23/11
March 24th, 2011 by deniseOn March 23, 2011 seventeen of us enjoyed SPRINGING FORWARD at The Public House in Williams Bay (WI). Despite the ice and snow outside, WE enjoyed a warm and inspiring evening with delicious food and outstanding service.

Diane, Lynette and Elaine
WE welcomed several first-time guests: Elaine Bennett, Lynette Gebben and Laurie Huml Eckert.
Elaine is pleased to be pursuing her lifelong passion by studying integrated nutrition for overall wellness. Just about everyone in the room seemed to relate when Elaine shared a story about her father telling her “Welcome to the real world – quit dreaming …” when she would tell him, “I don’t want to work just to get a paycheck.” Today she is working toward objectives much more significant than a paycheck, as she coordinates her first “Weekend Renewal Retreat” at The Geneva Inn on April 16 & 17. The event, which will include classes, workshops, demonstrations, yoga, massage, healthy meals, a silent auction and more, will benefit the Agape House of Walworth. WE members and friends interested in helping Elaine through participation or donations, please contact Elaine directly or ask Denise for her contact information, if necessary. (Also see: www.essential-yoga.net)
Lynette, invited by Diane Reiner (ACT Telecom) is a Melaleuca representative whose passions include getting chemicals out of people’s homes. She would like to start by reaching out to parents and cleaning professionals to rid homes of chemicals in cleaning products.
Laurie Huml Eckert, the Sales Visionary of Local Vision TV came from Janesville with a very special announcement. Before the dinner meeting, Laurie and Denise Schultz signed a partnership agreement whereby Denise will help launch and be the Walworth County visionary for Local Vision TV, an online, on demand community oriented news and information service currently exclusive to Rock County. (www.localvisiontv.com)

Laurie and Denise "seal the deal"!
Kristina (Ericson) Staude shared her inspirational story of success with lia sophia jewelry, and was surprised with the presentation of a glamorous dress she had her eye on at Sandy’s Upscale Consignment. Denise, Sandy and others presented the gift in recognition of her stepping forward to share her story to empower other women. WE can’t wait to see photos from whatever industry event presents the opportunity for her to sparkle in it! Lia sophia’s March special offers amazing deals – see: www.liasophia.com/BlingQueen
Kathryn Loprino – The Public House (Woodstock & Crystal Lake, IL and Williams Bay, WI) - reminded us that she and her staff are available for catering special occasions. We were pleased to hear that Kathryn plans to be at the Williams Bay location 80% of the time this summer season.
Sharon Shelton – Senior Solutions Simplified – reminds us that computerless e-mail is a wonderful gift for parents, citing the joy her own mother receives from staying in touch with what Sharon referred to as “her ever smaller reality.” (www.seniorsolutionssimplified.com)
Patty Rottmann – Send Out Cards – has begun a 90-day weight loss challenge and invites other WE members to monitor and support her online through her Facebook page.
Sherry Kirchschlager – Sherry’s Dockside LLC – will have her Miche Bags at Retreat 120 in Lake Geneva Friday, April 1 from 10:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sherry mentioned her involvement on the Board of Holiday Home Camp and the fact that they are looking for a chairperson to lead this year’s Bags & Baubles committee.Donna Brown – Excel Family Chiropractic & Wellness – is offering thermal scans (non-invasive images more effective than mammograms) on April 9 – call (262) 248-6700 to schedule an appointment.

Gretch Hladish – Image 101 & Midwest Artist Network – announced that Mark & Gretch’s dinner shows are a wonderful and unique option for fundraising events. Image 101 Spa Weekend postcards were distributed – the first scheduled for this weekend at Bella Vista Suites in Lake Geneva. (www.image101online.com)
Marlynne (MJ) Hodges – Rainbow Heart Wellness – has been “doing what she needs to do when she needs to do it…” and it showed. She performs massage in her home office and has several upcoming workshops.
Becky Merwin – Rauland Agency and Merwin Farms – is a 24/7 Realtor, partner in the family farm, and a member of several area Boards including the Walworth County Fair.
Diane Reiner – ACT Telecom – is focusing more on “Green Technology.” (www.acttelecom.com)
In Mary Anne Olszewski’s absence, Denise announced that Awakenings3 Bodywork will be holding an Open House in conjunction with East Troy Acupuncture on Saturday, April 9 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tours, education, raffles and refreshments will be available. The premier holistic healing center is located at 3278 W. Main Street in East Troy (WI).
Dori Beck – Custom Carved Creations – is “choosing to live her life with passion!” WE were glad to hear she will be pursuing a business degree through De Vry University and plans to open a custom carving studio location in three years. In addition to her amazing carved pumpkins and watermelons, Dori is now offering custom edible fruit arrangements. She is also still a Wildtree consultant and part-time advertising sales consultant for The Spirit of Geneva Lakes.
Kristen Westlake – Nature & Wildlife Photographer - On the recent one year anniversary of her unexpected overnight survival in a canyon, Kristen realized we need to focus on “who we are, not what we do – and why we do things, not what we do.” Always inspiring, Kristen inspired Denise to find the story she published of this survival to be reposted publicly within the next few days.
Denise announced that with the recent development of her launching Local Vision TV in the Geneva Lakes area, she will not currently be focusing on the social media workshops WE have discussed at past meetings. She has met with Matthew Olson, president of Signalfire Ltd., whom she finds to be extremely knowledgeable and personable, thus will be coordinating joint workshops for WE members at a reduced rate. More information to follow.

January 26, 2011 Meeting Recap
January 27th, 2011 by deniseWE enjoyed a delightful evening of professional networking and friendly “catching up” at The Public House in Williams Bay, after what seemed like a very long time between gatherings. WE appreciate the 17 women who made time in their busy schedules to share resources and exchange ideas on January 26.

Mary Stephan - Laura Zaraza - Jacque Gratz
Although owner and WE Member Kathryn Loprino was enjoying a well deserved warm weather escape, her staff did an outstanding job of serving us, as always. WE enjoyed fresh salads, hearty homemade soups, delicious entrees and sweet treats, while learning updates of one another’s businesses and meeting some new contacts.
This month’s meeting began with professional “head shots” by photographer Mary Stephan. WE hope to welcome Mary as a new member and look forward to seeing the gallery of photos she took. Her positive energy and honest tips for better photos were appreciated by all of us.
WE also welcomed first time guest Cindy Stone, a reflexologist practicing at The White House Salon & Spa in Williams Bay. Cindy was able to network with other holistic health professionals and enjoyed her first meeting. WE were happy to have Laura Zaraza, our favorite Stampin’ Up! Consultant, be able to join us for dinner also.
Kathleen Kostuck, a professional business analyst with double majors in Business and Psychology, is no stranger to the WE Network. She has been extremely supportive of the group, since she was involved in the formation 7 years ago this month! It is rare that she is able to physically attend a meeting, so WE were pleased to see her, and her lovely 17 year old daughter Caitlin walk through the door.

Amy Straubel - Kristina Staude - Kathleen & Caitlin Kostuck
Learn more about Amy Straubel, Catherine Mc Queen, Donna Brown, Jacque Gratz, Kristina Staude, Marlynne Hodges, Mary Anne Olzsewski, Missy Putnam, Roberta Pollak, Sandy Lenz, Sharon Shelton, and other members by viewing the online roster at: www.wenetworkonline.com.
Founder Denise Schultz opened the meeting with an apology. WE have structured these dinner meetings to begin promptly at 7 and end promptly at 8:30 p.m. – and do a pretty darned good job of sticking to it. Dinner was being ordered at 7:45 … This was due to the fact that everyone was enjoying Photography by Mary Stephan, so this one time exception seemed acceptable by all present. (As that person, I can also say it slipped my mind that WE have so many choices on our dinner options now, and that I should have had those attending complete their orders earlier in the evening. Members, feel free to bump me with a reminder if I do something like that again!) Denise followed with an explanation that many seem to be wondering about the whereabouts of one of our founding members – Pegge Suhm, and her wonderful daughter, Alicia. Pegge is focusing on four generations of family, and sends her best regards. She will be back when the time is right for her and her family. Alicia hopes to attend some WE meetings this year, but Denise shared openly that she could not justify the expense of an administrator to handle on-site registration and had communicated that to Alicia. She and all members present seemed to understand and support the decision.
Kristina Staude invited everyone to her Customer Appreciation Party and Open House on Sunday, January 30 from 1-3 p.m. In addition to seeing brand new lia sophia jewelry pieces before the catalog is even revealed, there will be food, fun, and opportunities to win great prizes! Call Kristina at: 262-745-4164 for details.
Denise Schultz, currently supporting quite a few clients’ social networking and Internet marketing needs, shared some overall observations on Facebook, Linked In and Constant Contact. The discussion became very interactive, resulting in a request for some consultative training/classes. Denise will establish a venue and publish a schedule in the near future. The consensus seemed to be for Friday morning 9 –11 a.m. sessions. Stay tuned.
February 1 marks our annual membership renewal date. 17 members have paid 2011 membership fees already. WE appreciate everyone who actively participates, and welcome those who prefer to be occasional dinner meeting guests. The ability to pay renewal fees online, print an application and more are available at: www.wenetworkonline.com – thanks to Georgia Stewart, wherever our traveling Web Sorceress may be…
WE hope to see many of you on Wednesday, February 23 when WE celebrate six years of shared success and kick off our seventh! Williams Bay Public House – 6 p.m. registration; 7 p.m. dinner.

Missy Putnam and Sharon Shelton
Christmas Celebration
December 28th, 2010 by deniseYes, that’s right - WE use the word Christmas. And WE can’t claim to have had a meeting on December 22. What WE had was FUN! Everyone was sparkling inside and out, and Ronnie Nyles (www.RonnieNyles.com) kept us entertained (and perhaps WE entertained her a bit as well.) WE will be back to business in January, but WE worked hard in 2010 and WE celebrated accordingly this month.
